Lee Johnson, Forest Service archaeologist, will be the guest speaker for Minnesota Archaeology Week at the St. Louis County Heritage and Arts Center (the Depot) in Duluth, Wednesday at 1 p.m. The St. Louis County Historical Society—in partnership with the Forest Service serving the Superior National Forest—is hosting the event, which will detail Minnesota’s archaeological past. The society will display some of its archaeological artifacts as well as allow free admission to the Lake Superior Ojibwe Gallery. The gallery features artwork by Eastman Johnson depicting Ojibwe people, and also displays Ojibwe artifacts. This is a free event with sitting and standing room available.
