MUSEUM DAY LIVE! AT CLOQUET MUSEUM
The Carlton County Historical Society will participate with museums across the United States by partnering with the Smithsonian magazine's Museum Day Live! event on Saturday, September 23, 2017. The Smithsonian Institution offers free admission to participating museums. Just download a free ticket at Smithsonian.com/museumday.
Museum Day Live! at the CCHS museum in Cloquet starts out a 9 am with a Barn Quilt Square class open to the first 12 people who sign up. The class ends at 12 noon and will give participants a chance to make a wooden painted barn quilt square to take home, suitable for hanging indoors or outdoors on your barn. All supplies will be included in the $25 class fee. Help the Carlton County Historical Society's Barn Photo committee preserve the images and beauty of barns in Carlton county! To sign up for the Barn Quilt Square class call the Carlton County Historical Society at 218-879-1938.
At 1 pm the CCHS museum will continue its barn theme with a "Barns of Carlton County - Part II" exhibit opening and program. Meet the people whose barns are in the photo exhibit and the committee members who photographed these barns. Also, the new 2018 Barns of Carlton County calendar will be highlighted in the program, where the owners of the barns selected for the calendar will be introduced.
Refreshments will be available throughout the day. The museum is handicapped accessible. Regular admission is $3 for adults, $1 for children under 12, and free admission for children under 5, Carlton County Historical Society members, and everyone with a Smithsonian Museum Day Live! ticket. For more information contact the museum at 218-879-1938.
