“I Heart Wisconsin River Trip"

As part of a summer solstice celebration, former Washburn resident Ruth Oppedahl with present her 18-day, 430-mile kayak journey down the Wisconsin River Monday, June 20 at 7 p.m. at the Northland College Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute.

Oppedahl is the executive director at the Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin. She kayaked last summer from the headwaters of the Wisconsin River to its confluence with the Mississippi River, as a response to a reduction of state funding in support of conservation and natural resources.

Strawberry shortcake and lemonade will be served afterwards. This event is free and open to the public.
