Photography at the Rock Solo Exhibit
Split Rock Lighthouse Historic Site 3713 Split Rock Lighthouse Rd., Two Harbors, Minnesota 55616
The photography of Hermantown photographer, Dawn LaPointe, will be on exhibit at the Split Rock Lighthouse Visitor Center from October 1-31, 2022.This thoughtfully-curated solo photography exhibit showcases the full color beauty and serenity of the North Shore region, opposite Lake Superior's wild side (waves!) in monochrome photographs. The exhibit is inspired by Dawn’s affinity for Lake Superior’s dynamic beauty and raw power, especially its thundering waves and subzero weather phenomena.
LaPointe states, “I appreciate and find great peace in the spectacular beauty of Lake Superior’s North Shore region. I am also energized by and in awe of Lake Superior’s waves and ever-changing winter lakescapes. While many people head indoors during inclement weather, I eagerly layer up, grab my camera gear, and head to the shore to experience nature’s various moods. This exhibit is a glimpse into my adventures along this Great Lake.”
Dawn invites viewers to experience serenity and stillness, and to be in awe of the power of Lake Superior during storms. She hopes viewers will appreciate this region’s unique beauty and explore it with renewed curiosity.
