Want to learn about current research projects on the Great Lakes? Check out the public forum Friday at Northern Michigan University. It runs from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Brule Room of the University Center and is open to everyone. Topics will include lake evaporation, water levels, rip currents and nearshore weather and marine forecasting. The panel will share scientific knowledge on the Great Lakes, introduce research projects being conducted at Granite Island and Stannard Rock, and get feedback from the community and Great Lakes stakeholders. The panel will include meteorologists from the National Weather Service office in Negaunee, Great Lakes researchers from Environment Canada and various universities, and scientists from the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration’s Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory (GLERL) in Ann Arbor.
