to
Carlton County Historical Society 406 Cloquet Avenue, Cloquet, Minnesota 55720
The Carlton County Historical Society welcomes Richard Bruns to present a program on Sappi Today on Friday, January 8, 2016, at 1 p.m. at its museum in Cloquet.
Bruns has been the Mill Procurement Manager at Sappi Fine Papers in Cloquet for more than two years. Originally from Emsel, MN, near Alexandria, Bruns graduated from North Dakota State University with a degree in Engineering. He started working at Consolidated Papers, a competitor to Potlatch, as an electrical engineer. After working there 16 years, Bruns then moved to Wausau, WI, to work for Wausau Paper. After Wausau Paper was bought out, he started working at Sappi in Cloquet.
This program complements the historical society's current exhibit "Wood City Smokestacks", featuring the big three wood products industries in Cloquet, including the history of the Sappi plant. Visitors can view the history of the plant, which started out as Northwest Paper Company in 1898, then became Potlatch. Bruns' will bring us up to date with the current innovations at Sappi today.
After the program, refreshments will be served. Regular admission is $2 for adults, $1 for children under 12, and free admission for children under 5 and Carlton County Historical Society members. The museum is handicapped accessible. For more information call 218-879-1938.
