Sugarloaf Cove 1st Annual Open House, October 20, 2018 (MEA weekend)
Sugarloaf will hold their 1st Annual Open House at Sugarloaf Cove Nature Center and Sugarloaf Point Scientific and Natural Area on October 20. There will be speakers, refreshments, family activities and more from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Parking and all activities are FREE.

- 10 a.m.: A look at Bird Banding and a guided walk to the point
- 11 a.m.: North Shore Geology Walk with Margie Menzies
- 12 p.m.: Keynote Talk: Scientific and Natural Areas: What, Where and Why. – AmberBeth VanNingen, MN DNR Regional Scientific and Natural Areas Specialist
- 1 p.m.: The Gales of Lake Superior – Dr. Anna Hess, MN DNR - Eastern District Manager, Division of Ecological and Water Resources
- 2 p.m.: Plants and the North Shore climate: Arctic relicts to red oaks - Briana Gross, MN DNR - OASI
