Carlton County Historical Society 406 Cloquet Avenue, Cloquet, Minnesota 55720
The Carlton County Historical Society starts up "Movies at the Museum" for the summer with a double feature on Wednesday, July 12, at noon at the museum at 406 Cloquet Avenue in Cloquet.
The featured films are two videotapes shown on the big screen from the museum's collection. One is "The Old Finn Hall," a variety show of old and contemporary Finn Hall music, dance, and poetry filmed before a live audience in 1997. Start celebrating Finland's 100th birthday this year with this historic and contemporary Finnish American entertainment. The other movie is a recently donated interview with Milo Stillwell (1901-1998), a logger for Diamond Match in Cloquet, who took up woodcarving after he retired. Many of his wood carvings are on exhibit at the museum.
During the program, popcorn and punch will be available and a door prize drawing will be held during intermission.
Visitors will be able to view the museum exhibits before and after the program. Regular admission is $3 for adults, $1 for children under 12, and free admission for children under 5, Carlton County Historical Society members, and active military personnel and their families. The museum is handicapped accessible and air conditioned. For more information call 218-879-1938.
