The Carlton County Historical Society welcomes Kristine Hiller, Park Naturalist from Jay Cooke State Park, to present a program about the Swinging Bridge on Veterans Day, Tuesday, November 11 at 1 p.m. at its museum at 406 Cloquet Avenue in Cloquet, MN.
The program helps interpret the museum's current exhibit "65 Treasures", celebrating the historical society's 65th birthday with 65 items that are significant to the county's history. One of these items is a group of three historic postcards picturing Jay Cooke State Park's famous Swinging Bridge. Kristine Heller will present a slide show explaining the history of the bridge and the numerous floods that damaged the well-known Carlton County icon.
After the program, refreshments will be served. Admission to the museum is $2 for adults, $1 for children under 12 and free for children under 5 and CCHS members. Veterans will be admitted free to commemorate Veterans Day. The museum is handicapped accessible. For more information call the CCHS at 218-879-1938.
