An open house celebrating the 120th birthday of the Historic Union Depot in Duluth and the 90th birthday of the St. Louis County Historical Society will be July 12 from 12:30-7 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Throughout the building, also known as the St. Louis County Heritage & Arts Center, there will be family activities including sidewalk chalk art, free museum admission and a dance party. Visit the Train Museum as the Historical Society brings living history of the early 1900s to the storefronts. The Duluth Art Institute will unveil new work by Chris Monroe and welcome visitors into the Norman Rockwell’s traveling exhibit of Tasha Tudor. A birthday cake in the shape of the Depot will be served. Activities include a Lester River Train Ride, 12:30 p.m.; press conference and cutting of the cake, 2 p.m.; sidewalk chalk art and dance party, 2:30-4 p.m.; events throughout the Depot (free admittance to all museums), 4-7 p.m.; opening for Chris Monroe and Tasha Tudor, 5-7 p.m. For more information, call 218-727-8025 or visit www.duluthdepot.org.
