The Magnificat

This year marks the fifth year that New Life Lutheran Church will host the unique and uplifting Advent study, The Magnificat. This three-week study is centered around the Biblical text of Luke 1:46-55.

Cost for the three-session course is $20, which includes a copy of the book, Luther and Bach on the Magnificat: For Advent and Christmas.

This Advent study brings together Martin Luther’s spiritual classic, Commentary on the Magnificat, with Johann Sebastian Bach’s musical masterpiece, “Magnificat.” Discussion will be combined with a video recording of the performance by the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra & Choir as recorded during the 2003 Bachfest Leipzig in the Church of St. Thomas.

Instructors for the study will be Rev. David Norland, Pastor at New Life Lutheran and Rev. Brad Jenson, Pastor Emeritus, Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC).
