Calumet Public Library 57070 Mine Street, Calumet Township, Michigan 49913-2949
The Friends of the Calumet Public Library host Larry Lankton and "The Uniqueness of Calumet." Besides being the biggest and richest of the Lake Superior copper mines for decades, what else set Calumet and the Calumet and Hecla mine apart from other mine towns and companies on the Keweenaw? Historian Larry Lankton will talk about lifestyle and landscape at Calumet, and contrast it with what was found in other diverse mine locations and communities along the mineral range. A reception and book signing will follow. The event is free and open to the public.
