Third Annual Lake Fanny Hooe Ice Fishing Tournament

Fort Wilkins Historic State Park hosts the third annual Lake Fanny Hooe Ice Fishing Tournament Saturday, Feb. 15, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The tournament is sponsored by the Pines Resort, where participants must register before going onto the ice. There is a $10 registration fee for adult anglers. Participants will compete for a first-place prize of $75 and second-place prize of $50 in three categories: largest trout, walleye and perch. There is no charge to participate in the youth ice fishing contest. Youth anglers will be awarded for the three largest fish caught. and registration begins at 6 a.m. The Pines Resort is just outside of the park on U.S. 41 in Copper Harbor. Plowed parking lots within Fort Wilkins Historic State Park will be available to participants for access to the ice, and the weigh-in station will be at the lake's boat launch.
