TRAINS IN THE 1918 FIRE PROGRAM AT MUSEUM
The Carlton County Historical Society presents its August event about the Great 1918 Fire with a program by Tim Schandel called "Trains During the 1918 Fire" to be held on Saturday, August 25 at 1 p.m. at the CCHS museum in Cloquet.
Schandel has worked at Duluth's Lake Superior Railroad Museum for many years, becoming an expert on local railroad history. Learn how the trains evacuated thousands of fire refugees, suffered fire damage to their buildings, trestles, bridges and tracks, and were ultimately found to be responsible for causing the great 1918 fire. Visitors can view the museum's exhibit about "Trains During the 1918 Fire" before and after the program.
After the program, refreshments will be served. Regular admission is $3 for adults, $1 for children under 12, and free admission for children under 5 and Carlton County Historical Society members. The museum is handicapped accessible and air conditioned. For more information, contact the Carlton County Historical Society at 218-879-1938.
