On June 1st, 2019, Bill Hansen fulfilled a life-long ambition by departing for 27 months as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the East African country of Uganda. For his first three months in Uganda, Bill received intensive training in the economy, history, and culture of Uganda. The training culminated with a 5 week crash course in Lugisu, a language that Wikipedia describes as a "dying Aftrican tribal language." After his training concluded, Bill was dropped off in the tiny, remote, mountain village of Uranga, in the Mbale District.
Join Bill on August 6th at 7 pm for his narrative of his many adventures, culminating in the sudden and unexpected interruption to his volunteer service, due to the pandemic.
