The event begins with a social hour at 5 p.m. The focus is the grand opening of the new Albert J. Amatuzio Research Center and to recognize Albert for making the center possible. Also spotlighted will be the presentation of the Mike Colalillo Medal of Honor Scholarship, this year for $1,000, to this year’s winner. This scholarship is paid from the Duluth-Superior Area Community Foundation’s Mike Colalillo Medal of Honor Scholarship Fund. Proceeds from the event will help support the Veterans’ Memorial Hall program of the St. Louis County Historical Society. The keynote speaker will be Colonel Penny Dieryck, who will talk about her work as the Mission Support Group commander of the 148th Fighter Wing, Minnesota Air National Guard, Duluth. She is also a support officer as a federal military technician at the 148th Fighter Wing. She began her military career in April 1980 when she enlisted in the Minnesota Air National Guard.
