MUSEUM HOSTS FREE WRITER'S WORKSHOP
A creative writing workshop encouraging submissions to the Carlton County Historical Society’s Great Fires Writing Competition will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., Saturday, October 21, at the Carlton County Historical Society in Cloquet. Writing instructor and historian Katharine Johnson will lead the workshop, assisted by Lisbeth Boutang, project coordinator.
The Historical Society received funding from the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council to publish an original collection of poetry and short prose commemorating the 100th anniversary of the 1918 Cloquet-Moose Lake Fires.
Workshop participants are asked to bring their work in progress for the contest or simply an idea regarding a possible submission. People interested in learning more about the project are also welcome.
Come and learn how you can be a part of this historic endeavor. Workshop instructors will assist participants in editing submissions and answer any inquiries regarding the competition.
The actual submission deadline is Nov. 1, 2017. If you have any questions, contact the Carlton County Historical Society at (218) 879-1938.
