The Longyear Legacy is a special exhibit at Marquette Regional History Center, running through January 4. John M. Longyear has had a lasting impact on Marquette. He was an avid photographer and world traveler. Besides his interests in mining and lumber, he operated a coal mine on the arctic island of Sptizbergen in Norway.
