Zenith City on Tap: Highpointe Historic Home
to
Glensheen: The Historic Congdon Estate 3300 London Rd., Duluth, Minnesota 55804
This month’s Zenith City Online features longtime Glensheen board member Dennis Lamkin and Jon Niemi discussing their historic home, Highpoint, built in 1912 by Bernard Silberstein.
Bernard and his wife Nettie are considered Duluth’s first Jewish residents; Bernard owned and operated Silberstein & Bondy, a drygoods store that became one of Duluth’s major department stores, and was an active civic leader in the Zenith City.
Dennis and John will provide a history of the Silbersteins, their remarkable home along 21st Avenue East, and the renovations they have made to the house and the grounds that surround it.
The event will take place Thursday, October 27, in Glensheen’s lower level Amusement Room.
Doors open at 6:45; program begins at 7:30. Beer and wine available. This event is free and open to the public.
