Fall Festival Season Arrives Around Lake Superior
The annual Terry Fox Run returns for its 46th year on Sunday, Sept. 20, bringing communities across Canada together to continue Terry Fox’s dream of raising funds for cancer research.
Fox began his Marathon of Hope in 1980, running nearly a marathon a day across Canada before cancer forced him to stop just outside Thunder Bay after 143 days and 5,373 kilometres. His legacy has continued through the annual run, which has now raised more than $1 billion for cancer research worldwide.
In Thunder Bay, this year’s run takes place at St. Ignatius High School, with registration beginning at 1 p.m. and the run at 2 p.m. Participants can run, walk, volunteer or donate in support of cancer research.
