Putting out the call for dog-loving volunteers
This week the Bayfield Chamber of Commerce put out the word that it needs more than 100 volunteers or voluntourists to help with the Apostles Islands Dog Sled Race in February.
The Bayfield Chamber has details about the race and about voluntourism packages for staying and helping. Events are Feb. 2-3, 2014.
+ Organizers of the John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon announced that Iditarod pioneer and patriarch Dan Seavey will be the speaker at the gala and silent auction. + For the first time, the Midnight Run, coinciding with the UP200 and Jackpine 30, will start and end in Marquette. Rules of the races and information about volunteering are now online. Events run Feb. 13-17, 2014.
