Planting For the Birds, presented by Laura Erickson
12:00-1:30 pm Meeting at the Lois King Education Center, 8793 Owl Avenue, Meadowlands, MN 55765
Laura will be talking about her new book, 100 Plants to Feed the Birds (which recently won the American Horticultural Society’s 2023 Book Award). She’ll give a few specific plant recommendations for up here in north country, but the main focus will be the importance of locally native plants for many of our favorite birds, including several warblers, sparrows, Evening Grosbeaks, crossbills, and hummingbirds.
Laura is author or co-author of 13 books about birds including the American Birding Association’s Field Guide to Birds of Minnesota. Her radio program “For the Birds” is America’s longest running radio program about birds—it’s been airing on Duluth’s KUMD and now “The North” since 1986.
