12:00-1:30 pm Meeting at the Lois King Education Center, 8793 Owl Avenue, Meadowlands, MN 55765. This event is free and open to the public.
The Sax-Zim Bog is a part of the St. Louis River Watershed which spans 2,926 square miles or over 1.8 million acres from the Headwaters at Seven Beaver Lake to the St. Louis River Estuary. Learn about the overall health of the watershed, including in the Sax-Zim Bog area, and what makes good water quality. Learn about the plans that local partners have developed to restore, improve, and protect the water quality of the St. Louis River over the next 10 years. Becca will also share actions people can take to protect the St. Louis River Watershed.
Becca Reiss is the Community Conservationist for the North St. Louis Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD). She works on projects from water quality monitoring to water planning to education and outreach. The North St. Louis SWCD is a local government serving the northern 2/3 rd of St. Louis County and helps people engage in voluntary conservation efforts. She made her first visit to the Sax-Zim Bog during the owl irruption of 2005 and has enjoyed visiting the Bog ever since!
