1918 FIRE MOVIE AT CLOQUET THEATER
The Carlton County Historical Society and WDSE-WRPT Public Television are sponsoring a public screening of the new documentary movie "The Fires of 1918" at the Cloquet Premiere Theater at 904 Highway 33 South on Saturday, May 19 at 10 a.m. Doors open at 9:30 a.m.
This documentary film produced by WDSE-WRPT Public Television was first shown on TV starting in March as part of the station's pledge drive. It includes many new interviews, photos and information about the horrific fire that struck a 5 county area in northern Minnesota one hundred years ago this year. Also included is footage of previous documentaries, including survivors and others who have since passed away. The film, which is just a little more than an hour in length, will be shown without interruption.
The public screening in Cloquet is a fundraiser for the Carlton County Historical Society with a suggested donation of $5.00 per person. Popcorn and pop will be offered free of charge. For more information, contact the Carlton County Historical Society at 218-879-1938.
