LSAA Gallery August Exhibits Opening Reception

The City of Marquette Arts and Culture Center will have an opening artist reception Thursday, August 6, from 6 to 8 p.m., for two August exhibits. The public is invited to attend and refreshments will be provided. The Arts and Culture Center's August LSAA (Lake Superior Art Association) Gallery exhibition is "The Menagerie," featuring an eclectic group of local artists with various backgrounds.The exhibit will include paintings, collages, jewelry and prints, participants are Renee Michaud, Jane Ladeck, Martha Fotopulos, Rene Himes, Gail Mahon and Linda Hirvonen. Also, the August SmallWorks Gallery will feature artwork by painter Brook Powell and include watercolor paintings inspired by life in the U.P. Brook is an art and design graduate from Northern Michigan University whose work has been exhibited throughout Michigan and in North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Kentucky. Brook is represented by the White Pine Studio and Gallery in Marquette. These shows will be running from August 4 to August 28.
