Camp Bong, a new event from the University of Wisconsin-Superior’s Center for Continuing Education and the Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center in Superior, will allow children to experience the center like never before. Starting at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 19, Camp Bong will allow children in grades three through eight and their parent or legal guardian the experience of camping out inside the center for a night of fun and education. The Bong Center honors the World War II and later generations who have served and sacrificed (both on the front lines and at hone) to protect our freedoms. The evening will involve discovering the items in a soldier’s footlocker, hands-on demonstrations of historic uniforms and equipment, and up-close views of a P-38 fighter plane. Campers will take part in exploration of the center, meeting with veterans, games and a movie before lights out. The morning will begin with reveille and breakfast before concluding at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $30 for a child and adult. All children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Limited spaces are available. To register, or for more information, call 715-394-8469, or visit www.uwsuper.edu/cce.
