Copper Wrapped Bead Pendant (a Copper Fest Activity)
to
Porcupine Mountains Folk School M107, Silver City, Michigan 49971
Class participants will start by making a number of wonderful, sparkly felt beads to use as the focal point in the pendant. Each will select a favorite bead to use in the piece. They will then, literally, weave with copper wire to create a band to encircle and showcase the bead. Each piece will be finished with the maker’s unique design. Participants will learn to wire weaving, wire wrapping, how to make a bail and how to finish the ends of a piece, and of course, how to make gorgeous felt beads.
This class provides an excellent introduction to the art of working with wire. It also teaches some basic wet felting skills. Those who desire to learn wire wrapping will leave with skills to take them into other more complex projects. By using copper wire we honor the resources native to the Porcupine Mountains.
The class is open to all, ages 18 and older.
Class Fee: $88 (includes materials)
