The Fat Bike Birkie is for riders who want to test their skill and endurance on the professionally groomed American Birkebeiner Ski Trail. The races are March 11, with the option of a 47K (29-mile) “Big Fat” Fat Bike Race or the 23K (14-mile) “Chico” Fat Bike Race. But there are three days of activities. On March 10, you can ride the Criterium course and check out the latest gear at the Fat Bike Birkie Expo; March 11 is race day, with racing in the morning, then a post-race party in the big tent and an after-party at the Sawmill Saloon in Seeley, Wisconsin; and March 12 brings guided rides and fat-bike demos. Avoid the race morning rush and pick up your bib at the Fat Bike Expo in the Great Hall at the Birkie Trailhead, open 10 a.m. am to 7 p.m. Friday, March 10. Bib pickup on race day is Saturday from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. More information is at www.birkie.com, or call 715-634-5025.
