to
Fairlawn Mansion 906 E. 2nd, Superior, Wisconsin 54880
Garden Talks Winter Series 2015 presents Chicken Tracks: The Art and Science of Raising Chickens with Dara Fillmore, master gardener and poultry enthusiast. Chickens add color and entertainment to any backyard. They are reasonably easy to care for and can aid in the gardening process. This interactive session on poultry husbandry will focus on hardy breeds for our climate; choosing birds based on egg, meat or beauty qualities; ways to use chicken products for composting and gardening; and housing and feed options. Even chicken training methods will be covered. For the past two decades, Dara has enjoyed breeding, caring for and showing poultry. She will share some of her unique stories regarding raising chickens. The program runs 6 to 8 p.m. February 12 at Fairlawn Mansion in Superior as part of the Garden Talks Winter Series. The cost is $15 for this event, or $40 for any three talks in the series that runs through April 9. Call 715-394-5712 for advance registration. Seating is limited and sessions often sell out. All proceeds from the Garden Talks go to the Gardens of Fairlawn. Treats this year will be provided by professional trained pastry chefs The Sweet Guys.
