The Carlton County Historical Society will be open on Labor Day, Monday, September 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a special movie at 1 p.m.
Labor Day is the last day of the summer exhibit "Stitchers and Weavers of Carlton County" featuring crocheting, knitting, embroidery, tatting, bobbin lace, huck toweling, weaving and quilts made by Carlton County women, whose biographies are featured.
At 1 p.m. the movie "Lumber Jill" will be shown on the big screen. This movie was created in 2010 by Summer Hagen of Cloquet and features many local scenes and people from Cloquet. See how a young woman finds a finds a home in Cloquet, where hard labor and lumberjacks are welcomed.
Popcorn and refreshments will be served. Regular admission is $2 for adults, $1 for children under 12, and free admission for children under 5 and Carlton County Historical Society members. As a Blue Star Museum, all active U.S. military personnel and their families are offered free admission through Labor Day. The museum is handicapped accessible.
