Teal Lake Hike
to
Teal Lake Negaunee, Michigan
Thursday, July 9 at 6 p.m. Meet at Lakeview School.
Join Jim Paquette to visit the campsites of Negaunee's very first miners, the ancient people who once quarried the Ajibik quartzite deposits on the northeast end of the lake thousands of years ago. We will talk about the geology, the archaeology and the history of the lake and the surrounding area. We will follow the footpaths along the north lakeshore, and make our way to the top of the nearby bluffs for an amazing view. This hike is limited to 75 people and advance tickets only. $10. The hike is 1½ to 2 hours with areas of steep terrain. Please visit marquettehistory.org or call 906-226-3571 for more info. Look for us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter (@MarquetteMuseum)!
