"Minnesota Nice: Paneled Pages from the Northland" runs from June 18 to August 27 at the Duluth Art Institute's George Morrison Gallery. A reception will be June 18 from 5 to 7 p.m. Minnesota has a rich history of comic book art – from the early Arts Instruction Schools to Charles Schulz to current graphic novelists and web comic artists. The Duluth Art Institute is featuring 14 artists from Minnesota who are doing interesting work in the realm of sequential visual arts and storytelling. Highlighting the broad number of voices in the state's comic community, from large to small publishers and from mainstream superheroes to independent and underground works, artists on view are Peter Gross, Erik Krenz, Chris Monroe, Gordon McAlpin, Lem Pew and Aric McKeown, Ryan Kelly, Brent Schoonover, Barbara Schulz, Anders Nilsen, Kate Worley, Reed Waller, John Hobin and Clint Helinski. 218-733-7560. www.duluthartinstitute.org.
