Jarden Program and Exhibit Opening
to
Carlton County Historical Society 406 Cloquet Avenue, Cloquet, Minnesota 55720
The Carlton County Historical Society welcomes Mary Andrae, plant manager for Jarden Home Brands in Cloquet, MN, to present a program about Jarden Today for an Exhibit Reception on Friday, October 23, 2015, at 1 p.m. at its museum at 406 Cloquet Avenue in Cloquet, MN.
Mary Anrdrae, born and raised near Madison, WI, started working at Jarden Home Brands in Cloquet in 2013. Previously, she worked for Cummings Engine, spending 10 years in the corporate office, becoming plant manager and supervising 350 people. When she joined Jarden, it was a big leap working with a distribution-based product. Since she's been at the Cloquet plant, changes to the old historic buildings are underway. Jarden has 17 acres of property and 300,000 square feet of work space.
Andrae's program adds to the museum's current exhibit called "Wood City Smokestacks," referring to Cloquet's nickname and its three big wood products industries. An Exhibit Reception will follow Andrae's program for the opening of Part Two of this exhibit on the predecessors of Jarden Home Brands, the Berst-Foster-Dixfield Company and Diamond Match. Part One of the exhibit opened in September, including the history of Sappi Fine Paper's Cloquet mill and its predecessors, Potlatch and the Northwest Paper Company.
Regular admission is $2 for adults, $1 for children under 12, and free admission for children under 5 and Carlton County Historical Society member. The museum is handicapped accessible. For more information call the Carlton County Historical Society at 218-879-1938.
