September Exhibits: Ted and Laura Ross

The City of Marquette Arts and Culture Center announces its September LSAA Gallery exhibition by designer Ted Ross. Ted, an assistant professor of furniture design at Northern Michigan University, will present a new collection of work focused around the tradition of craft and the maker’s hand mixed with the exploration of local industry called “Mostly Functional.” Ted received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Murray Sate University and a Master of Fine Arts from the Herron School of Art and Design. His work has been included in the show and publication Humor in Craft, his work was a part of the Collectors of Wood Art show at SOFA Chicago, and most recently a part of Materials Hard and Soft in Denton, Texas.
The September SmallWorks Gallery will feature artwork by artist Laura Ross titled “ROYGBIV.” This collection of work is centered on our perception of light and color. The work is an exploration of the separation of colors individually and the properties each carry. Laura Ross received her Bachelor of Arts Education from Herron School of Art and Design.
The shows will be running from Sept. 1 to 25 with an opening artist reception on Thursday, Sept. 3 at 6 to 8 p.m. The public is invited to attend and refreshments will be provided.
