Marquette Regional History Center 145 W. Spring Street, Marquette, Michigan 49855
Marquette Regional History Center presents: Marquette the Frisbee Sanctuary Wednesday, July 30, at 7 p.m. at the history center. The sport of Frisbee goes back nearly 50 years in Marquette, and the city was designated an official Frisbee Sanctuary in 1975 by Wham-O Manufacturing Co., the maker of the Frisbee. Recently a new disc golf course has been opened with a second course potentially on the way. The annual Guts Frisbee Tournament is growing in popularity. Local Frisbee activist Craig “Buck” Buchanan is lobbying to have the World Ultimate Frisbee Championships in Marquette. Hear his historical look back on the sport, see demonstrations and try your hand outside in the green space. $5 suggested donation.
