USS Duluth Presentation Silver event on the Lakewalk

On Friday, Oct. 28, Duluth will celebrate the homecoming of the USS Duluth Presentation Silver nearly 50 years after the city presented it to the ship and its crew. The historic event will be at 3 p.m. on Duluth’s Lakewalk in front of the USS Duluth Anchor Monument, next to the Vietnam Memorial, behind Fitger’s Complex. The public is invited. Former Mayor Ben Boo will be joined by local dignitaries and members of the USS Duluth Crewmembers Association as the ship’s silver is presented to the St. Louis County Historical Society for display in the Veterans Memorial Hall exhibit at the Depot. A reception will be held at the Pickwick Restaurant following the ceremony to meet crewmembers and hear more about the ship that was named for the city of Duluth.
