Snowman on Ice
The snowman (pictured here on Saturday with the icebreaker Alder) survived Thursday night's snowstorm, but may not last much longer. Highs in Duluth could reach 50º F this week.

Snowman on Ice
On Monday, two groups of fishermen were rescued near Brighton Beach in Duluth after the ice they were on broke free and began floating away. The fire department told folks to stay off the increasingly unstable ice.
Only this lone snowman remains, like a wintry scarecrow. It's become something of a local curiosity this week; residents drive past each morning and look to see if the snowman and the ice have survived another night, or if, perhaps, spring has finally arrived.
Update: Still standing on Saturday.
