Captain Dudley J. Paquette was a happy master after taking command of Inland Steel Company's SS Wilfred Sykes. He loaded opposite the Edmund Fitzgerald in Superior, Wisconsin, on November 9, 1975.

Captain Dudley J. Paquette, a dear friend of the magazine and collaborator on our book The Night the Fitz Went Down, passed away last weekend. He was 88. More about the captain and his life on the Lakes.
The Pie Place Café Cookbook Wins Award

The organizers of Grandma's Marathon – the iconic race from Two Harbors to Duluth's Canal Park – are seeking additional volunteers to help at the finish line, 5:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 21.
