35th anniversary celebration
We celebrated our 35th anniversary and 200th issue with an Open House this week. Here are a few photos from the evening.
Apply to be a torchbearer next summer
Ontario residents can apply to be part of the Pan Am Torch Relay next spring, ahead of the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto.
Over 41 days, more than 3,000 torchbearers will help transport the ceremonial torch from Mexico City to Toronto. The route includes stops in Thunder Bay and Sault Ste. Marie. Residents in and between those cities are encouraged to submit an application, due on December 1.
“Cruise of a Lifetime” winners
The Lake Superior Marine Museum Association has announced the winners of its annual “Cruise of a Lifetime” fundraising raffle. Don Jordan of Woodburn, Indiana, and Linda Cotterman of Indianapolis each won cruises for two aboard the 1,000-foot Edwin H. Gott.
Tickets for the 2015 raffle go on sale in April.
LSMMA also gives away a cruise on the Gott in the Spring Break Up Drawing. All LSMMA members are automatically entered.

+ Last Friday in Ishpeming, Michigan: “U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 5 Administrator/Great Lakes National Program Manager Susan Hedman today joined Ishpeming Mayor Mike Tall, state officials and local residents at Deer Lake in Ishpeming, Michigan, to mark the removal of this toxic hotspot from a binational list of ‘Areas of Concern’ targeted for cleanup in the 1987 U.S.-Canada Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement.”
