Beargrease start moved to Two Harbors
The John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon will start in Two Harbors, Minnesota, this year due to poor trail conditions in Duluth.
According to a news release from race organizers, "The 2015 race will begin in Two Harbors, MN at the Highway 2 gravel pit. Race Director Alex Angelos says trail conditions have improved in the area to allow for a 2PM start on Sunday, January 25th.
"The board decided on the Highway 2 location to keep the race course length as close to the original 384 miles as possible. This year's course length will be 319 miles, which still allows mushers to use the 2015 marathon to qualify for the Iditarod."
