Annual Isle Royale Winter Study begins
Researchers on Isle Royale posted their first Winter Study journal entries of the year.

Portage Lake Lift Bridge overnight closures
Work continues next week on the Houghton-Hancock Portage Lake Lift Bridge. The bridge will be closed for two hours each day, 2 to 4 a.m., Monday through Thursday. The overnight closures are part of an extensive preventative maintenance project scheduled for completion in April 2016.
Interest in perch fishing grows
Ice fishing for perch on Lake Superior's Black Bay is attracting a lot of attention from anglers in the last five or six years, said Gord Ellis, CBC Superior Morning Outdoor columnist.
