#BlueMoon
Going out tonight to watch the Blue Moon that has set social media ablaze? Want to capture a great photo of the full moon? Lake Superior Magazine contributors Shawn Malone and Dennis O'Hara each share their tips for making properly exposed moonrise images.
Full moons make great models when it comes to taking landscape shots with an intriguing atmosphere. The problem is getting details of the moon while balancing the lighting in the rest of the photo. It can all be accomplished in one exposure by waiting for the correct light and using a telephoto lens. I’ll explain how I did it.
Paying attention to timing, location, composition, lighting and knowing your equipment you can greatly improve your chance of capturing that special view of the moon.
+ Tonight's Blue Moon won't be blue-colored. (Sorry to disappoint.) NASA explains the origins of the name – and the rare circumstances under which the moon might actually look blue.

- Michigan Western Gateway Trail Authority (Gogebic County) - $25,000 to fund 4.2 miles of engineering assistance for trail from Ironwood to Bessemer on existing railroad grade. Four bridges also require decking and handrail upgrades.
