Heirloom Wooden Rattles
These wooden baby rattles are handcrafted by David H. Haessig (DHH designs) in his Sarona, Wisconsin, studio. They feature Wisconsin cherry wood accented with oak, maple, black walnut and African Padauk. Specific woods vary in each rattle. The finish is non-toxic and baby safe. The rattles are 51/4 inches long, 11/2 inches deep and 13/4 inches across their widest part. The rattles can be ordered from www.wisconsinmade.com.

Baby Booties
Alene Peterson of Spooner, Wisconsin, knits these booties from an old pattern used by her mother. “I loved them because they actually stayed on babies’ feet (most of the time),” she says. Handknit Children’s Sweaters
Nancy Von Riedel of Duluth knits these sweaters in burgundy, taupe or cream and as cardigans, pullovers or for newborns with a hood. Take-along Blankets
These are handmade in a smoke-free sewing room by Susie, sister of Nancy Iknayan and aunt of Marsha Miron, the owners (along with Nancy’s husband, Charlie) of This N That Gift Shop in Bessemer, Michigan. This 17x17-inch blanket is a perfect go anywhere size for infants and toddlers. The double-thick blankets, made of fleece and/or flannel for cuddling, comes in a variety of bright colors. Fun patterns on one side, solid on the other and accent ribbons to stimulate the little ones’ senses.
