Duluth’s A.G. Thomson House, featured in our December/ January 2011 issue, was ranked No. 1 over 21,000 bed-and-breakfast inns across the United States and No. 11 in the world in the 10th annual TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Awards. TripAdvisor is a web-based review of travel experiences and the awards are based on reviews by guests.
Linda Fryer, director of the Ely, Minnesota, Chamber of Commerce, got a Friend of Tourism award at this year’s Explore Minnesota Tourism Conference in Rochester. The award goes to individuals who have made significant contributions to the Minnesota travel and tourism industry. U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar was this year’s other recipient of the award.
Parker’s Hardware in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, was named the F.M. Mansfield Business of the Year for 2011 by the Sault Area Chamber of Commerce. Pingatore Cleaners was named Historic Business of the Year, and Morgan Skeet, a senior at Sault Area High School, was named Student Citizen of the Year for her countless hours of community service.
