For 50 years, the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra has made and recorded music for residents and visitors to Thunder Bay. The only fully professional orchestra between Toronto and Winnipeg, the TBSO presents classical and popular music and takes part in a variety of special events.
Upcoming events include “The Nutcracker,” December 16 & 17, by the Minnesota Ballet and dancers from Studio One in Thunder Bay, with TBSO playing the music; and next year’s “Beer and Beethoven,” April 28, 2012. The new music director is Arthur Post.
To celebrate the first 50 years and to support its next half century, TBSO has launched the “Music for Life” fundraising campaign. It’s a good way to support local arts. Find details and concert schedules at tbso.ca or call 807-474-2284.
