Elle Andra-Warner accepted the 2013 George B. Macgillivray Award from presenter Gerald Graham on Jan. 6 in Thunder Bay.
For her Lake Superior Magazine story on the Slate River Valley, Elle Andra-Warner won the 2013 George B. Macgillivray Award, one of four Publications Awards given biannually by the Thunder Bay Historical Museum Society.
Elle’s article, “In the Valley of the Slate River,” was published in the June/July 2011 issue of Lake Superior Magazine and told the story of the Slate River Valley, a thriving farming community near Thunder Bay.
The George B. Macgillivray Award honors the “best popular article relating to the history of Northwestern Ontario.”
Elle, a book author and freelance writer from Thunder Bay, is a frequent contributor to the magazine. She was previously nominated for the Macgillivray award in 2007.
