“My
wife and I traveled around Lake Superior in 2002. We drove the short
way, clockwise. Why is that the short way? You drive on the inside
lane. It’s got to be 20 feet shorter that way. Our favorite stop was in
Marathon Ontario. The town was named after our city of Wausau in
Marathon county Wisconsin. All the streets were named after lumber
barons just like in Wausau. It was really eerie because the names were
so familiar but the places weren’t. Being a boat nerd I also enjoyed
Thunder Bay and Sault Ste. Marie. We also went out to Isle Royale on a
tour. Copper Harbor at the tip of the Keweenaw was interesting but the
best two nights we spent were at a B&B called Sand Hills
Lighthouse. What an interesting place, full of antiques.”
